Overview
Mercedes EQS SUV is an immensely luxurious SUV. It has the same size in wheelbase as the EQS Sedan but the overall length is a little bit shorter. It is available in three different powertrain options. Considering its size, Mercedes also offers the rear axle steering of 10 degrees as optional to make it easier to maneuver around the city. It also has a hyper screen on the dashboard just like the EQS sedan extending from one end all the way to the other end with one glass and three different displays. The price for the 2023 Mercedes EQS SUV starts at $104,400.
2023 Mercedes EQS SUV Design
It has flowing lines all the way to the back and the swooping line actually goes a little bit up on the C pillar. The height is around 20 centimeters higher than the EQS Sedan. It is 1 meter and 72 centimeters.
There are special rims for the Mercedes EQS SUV. Special because it has chrome parts on the outsides and this indicates the off-road characteristics. The 22-inch rims really match the blacked-out exterior, especially in the darkened color and the Chrome accents match the EQS badge on the side.
At the back, the Mercedes emblem is actually lowered not on the top with the EQS 580 emblem and this means it is a 4matic with two electric motors producing over 400 kilowatts. The tail light has one flowing design and inner patterns just like an LED.
The rear trunk has around 800 liters of touring capacity very broad shoulders and when you fold down the second row it will have more than 1400 liters capacity.
This EQS SUV doesn’t have soft closing doors you can have it as an option.
Interior
On entering the EQS SUV you get a beautiful invitation display. Once you press the button all the electronics will come into play and you will get a huge MBUX hyper screen. The hyper screen though appears to be one but it has three independent displays.
The one is right in front of the driver which has all the gauges showing the info about the running status of the driver. It also has an inbuilt sensor that keeps track of the attention of the driver through its eyes. The sensor activates the safety features according to the attention status of the driver.
The second screen is in the middle of the dashboard and there is a third screen for the front passenger also.
These are three different displays also for the passengers in the second row in EQS 580.
Seating Comfort
You get enough space for your legs around 25 centimeters in the second row. The headspace is also very decent. There are very soft pillows in the front seats which is new. You can also go for the extra optional blinding. There is an extra infotainment system display that you can have in the center and two other displays right in front of each passenger in the second row.
So with the infotainment system in front of you, you can change the wall settings in the interior. You can for example go to comfort and change the seat position. You can move all the seats forward or backward with the touch on the infotainment system. To increase the comfort of each passenger, you can opt for 4 and 5 climate-zone-package.
There are thermometric air vent control systems so if you change the temperature, the colors will also move alongside the ambient lighting line.
2023 Mercedes EQS SUV Power and performance
Mercedes EQS SUV has three power-delivering options. The first one is the single-motor rear-wheel drive system in which the electric motor sends a max power of 355HP and 419 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. This variant is called EQS 450+ SUV and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.5 sec.
The EQS 450 4MATIC uses two motors and is an all-wheel-drive variant. It also delivers a max power of 355HP but a larger torque of 590 lb-ft. EQS 450 4MATIC accelerates from 0-60mph in a lesser time of 5.8 sec.
The third powertrain option is a dual motor all-wheel drive setup with a max power of 536HP with a torque of 633 lb-ft. The EQS 580 4MATIC can pull out from 0-60mph in just 4.5 sec which is huge for this size of SUV.
EQS 450+ SUV has the highest driving range of 305 miles while the EQS 450 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC have slightly lower driving ranges of 285 miles.
The SUV comes equipped with a self-adjusting AIRMATIC air suspension. The air suspension can adapt to loads, roads, and the driving modes of the DYNAMIC Select at each wheel. There is also an OFFROAD mode in which the air suspension raises the ground clearance and also optimizes the power train.
Safety Features
Mercedes EQS SUV is loaded with a plethora of safety features as standard and still many more safety features are available as optional. The range of safety features extends from the basic features to some advanced driver assistance features.
The basic safety features include 7 airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, ESP, Torque Vectoring Brake, Rain-sensing windshield wiper, Acoustic vehicle alert system, and many more.
Apart from these basic safety features, there are lots of advanced driver assistance safety features. They are Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping, and Change Assist, Active Speed limit Assist, and a lot more.

The base trim level of the 2023 Mercedes EQS SUV, EQS 450+ SUV starts at $104,400. The AWD variant with the same power and higher torque EQS 450 4MATIC starts at $107,400 and the most luxurious and powerful trim EQS 580 4MATIC has a starting price of $125,950.
The electric luxury SUV finds its direct competition with Tesla Model X, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 E-Tron. Another potential rival to EQS SUV can Rivian R1S.
