The Skoda Auto India announced the Kushaq’s specs and the price will take place in June. The car will reach the showrooms by July. There are also rumors that the launch has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in India.
Exterior – looks and styling
The Skoda Kushaq is a premium urban SUV. This urban SUV is a perfect blend of luxury, power, and function. It has a bold aesthetic design as other Skoda SUV models. It has a typical butterfly grille, surrounded by chrome. The front bumper highlights its angular design and looks very stylish. The skid plates under the air dam and the faux vents on the bumper give a very sporty look to the car.
The bonnet looks swelled in the middle instead of being flat. It has crystalline-shaped LED projector headlamps. These headlamps are L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The halogen fog lamps are positioned just below to make space look more occupied. It has silver roof rails, a shark fin antenna, and a sunroof. It has got 17 inches atlas 2 tone alloy wheels and the design looks like a 5 pointed star. The Kushaq looks premium from the back but does not look sporty as it looks in the front. The LED tail lamps look L-shaped like the LED DRLs upfront.
Interior – Comfort and Luxury
The Skoda Kushaq does not only look premium from the exterior but also from the interior. It has got premium equipment like ventilated front seats, a touch panel for climate control, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, and the 10-inch touch screen infotainment system with Android and Apple CarPlay. It also has a wireless mirror link, a 7 speaker music system, rear AC vents, cruise control, 2 spoke steering wheel, and auto-dimming IRVMs.
Performance – Engine and Transmission
It got 2 engines, which are locally manufactured. One is a 115 HP, 1.0 liter 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine. And the second is a 150 HP 1.5 liter 4 cylinder turbo petrol engine. Both the engines have a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard with a 1.0-liter TSI getting a 6-speed torque converter auto and the 1.5-liter TSI getting a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option.
Variants and safety features
It is offered in 5 vibrant colors. This includes Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, and Tornado Red. The model measures 4221 mm in length, 1760 mm width, and 1612 mm height and the ground clearance stands at 188 mm. It offers 3 variants or models and they are Active, Ambition and Style.
It has got brilliant safety features. This includes dual airbags front side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic speed control as standard across the range, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, tyre pressure monitoring system, rearview camera, Hill hold control and multi-collision brake.
It has got a very classy and elegant design which will make the car go a long way. The cabin could easily accommodate 4 people. It has many other strong features. It has got a Turbo petrol engine which promises exciting performance and has also got top-notch safety features. Though it has got so many strong features, it lacks some other features. It does not provide a diesel engine option to its customers. It also does not have a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and powered driver’s seat. These missing features could pull back the car’s growth maybe in the future.
It is expected that Skoda may put this urban SUV or compact SUV in the price range of INR 10-11 Lakh. This will Kushaq in competition with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV 300, Ford Ecosport, and Renault Duster.
