Toyota has introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor in India, marking its re-entry into the sub-4m SUV segment. This vehicle, essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Fronx, is the latest collaboration between Maruti and Toyota, representing their sixth shared product.
What’s different from Fronx?
Differentiating itself from the Fronx, the Taisor boasts distinct design elements including a revised grille, LED lighting both front and rear, and uniquely styled alloy wheels. However, it maintains the identical cabin as the Fronx, complete with a black and maroon themed interior.
In terms of features, the Taisor mirrors its counterpart, offering amenities like a 9-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, and up to six airbags. Toyota provides the same engine options as the Fronx, with choices between the 1.2-litre N/A and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines.
Toyota Taisor Price
The Urban Cruiser Taisor is available in five variants, with prices ranging from Rs 7.74 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India). Bookings are open for a nominal fee of Rs 11,000, and deliveries are slated to commence from May 2024.
For those seeking a premium touch, the top-spec V variants offer a dual-tone exterior finish for an additional Rs 16,000.
While structurally akin to the Fronx, the Taisor receives distinctive styling cues such as a redesigned grille, updated bumpers, and unique LED DRLs and taillights. Inside, the cabin layout remains unchanged, except for the Toyota badging, prominently displayed on the steering wheel.
Taisor Features
In terms of equipment, the Taisor mirrors the Fronx, featuring a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC, wireless phone charging, cruise control, and a heads-up display. Safety features include up to six airbags, hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera.
Powering the Taisor are the same engines found in the Fronx, ensuring comparable performance and efficiency.
Competitively positioned, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor competes against vehicles like the Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and the upcoming facelifted Mahindra XUV300, offering a compelling choice in the crossover segment.
