Overview
The 2023 Yamaha MT-15 V2 needs no introduction. This is the street naked version of the ever-popular R15. Now in 2023, Yamaha has updated its naked version MT-15. MT-15 V2 is powered by 150cc engine and is priced at Rs. 1.68 lakh. It has disk at the front and rear and now comes with dual channel ABS in version 2.0. It also now features Bluetooth connectivity.
What’s new in (2023) version 2.0?
One of the biggest updates that the Yamaha R15 version 4.0 got was the upside-down fork, and we are glad to see that the MT-15 version 2.0 gets the same unit. In fact, unlike the previous MT-15, which got the lesser custom treatment by being fitted with a cheaper box section swing arm, the latest version of the MT-15 gets the same aluminum swingarm as the R15 version 4. These two changes, along with a 10mm reduction in wheelbase, have brought about notable improvements in the way this motorcycle rides and handles.
Engine, transmission, and performance
The MT-15 V2 is powered by a 155 cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve FI engine. It churns out 18.4hp at 10000 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.1 Nm at 7500 rpm. The bike comes with a constant mesh 6-speed transmission system that is further supported by an assist and slipper clutch for smooth and easy transmission.
Key dimensions
The bike is built on a Deltabox-type frame. It has a telescoping upside-down front fork and a link-type monocross suspension in the rear. The overall length of the naked sport bike is 2015 mm, with a width and height of 800 mm and 1070 mm, respectively. With a seat height of 810 mm, it has a ground clearance of 170 mm. It has a wheelbase of 1325 mm. With oil in the engine and a full fuel tank, the MT-15 V2 can weigh up to 141 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 10 L and it delivers up to 47 kmpl fuel efficiency.
The front and rear both are 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre is 100/80 in size while the rear tyre is a wider one with 140/70 in size. The braking work of MT 15 V2 is carried by a 282mm disk at the front and a 220mm disk at the rear. The bike is also equipped with Bosch’s dual-channel ABS as standard.
2023 MT-15 V2 Design and Looks
The design of MT 15 V2 definitely comes from the bigger engine versions of the MT series – the MT 09 and MT 10. The visual improvements made while the body panels are precisely the same as before the introduction of new colorways have enhanced the appearance of the MT 15V2 and it looks pretty neat with the colored wheels adding to the effect. If you find this looks gaudy the MT 15V2 is available in relatively subtle colors as well. Overall, the MT 15V2 looks much better in these new colors.
2023 Yamaha MT-15 V2 features
Yamaha Motor India has improved the safety net for this motorbike by adding LED turn indicators, and the MT-15 now features full-LED illumination. The LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connection is still present in the cockpit. The Bluetooth module provides access to functions like incoming call alarms, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level to the LCD console through a specialized smartphone application. The smartphone software also aids in monitoring fuel usage, offers maintenance advice, remembers where you last parked, and displays problem warnings.
